Yes, it is.

It’s an excellent bundle, a superb entry point if you’re starting out, with enough substance to keep you going for years well into your more advanced stages. The wheelbase, wheel, and pedals included in this kit are what I would happily call 'sim racing grade'. They have earned the status with no need to metaphorically hold them a certain way to see them in a good light. They do not prey on your inexperience or lack of knowledge. This kit has just as much potential to be seen at the front of the grid as it does the back, and if you’re new to all of this, that’s exactly the sort of thing I’d want to know. Let’s run you through it.

Simagic Green Flag Bundle - Actual Value For Money

Overview

As I write this, the bundle is £630 from Race Anywhere, the UK’s foremost Simagic retailer. Show that price to anyone 5 years ago, and it would have sounded like pure fiction. It’s stonking value for money and is now the tipping point where a real, well-rounded sim racing setup can be acquired. As I write this, I wonder if in 5 more years the price scale will have crumbled again; that’s how much cheaper it is to be a PC sim racing newcomer with a good setup these days. The kit includes a Simagic Alpha Evo Sport wheelbase, Simagic GT Neo steering wheel, and Simagic P700 Pedals with Throttle and Brake. There is also an equivalent bundle featuring a round wheel instead of the GT Neo, if drift and rally, etc., is more your thing.

It’s not the only bundle ideal for getting into sim racing, but what makes this bundle different is that it makes the answer to that question so simple. The green flag bundle has no weaknesses or compromises that are likely to be relevant to you anytime in the near future. I don’t need to tell you about any boost kit or load cell kit upgrades like with Fanatec, I don’t need to tell you that the Moza R5 pedals are the weak point and that you’ll be wanting to swap them soon, and if those two sentences made no sense to you, that’s my point. Expecting newcomers to decipher and understand upgrade paths is silly; with this bundle, there’s no need. Every piece of this kit is at or above my recommended sim racing hardware requirements, so you don’t need to know what to upgrade first. It’s all there already, and anything you do upgrade will be out of want rather than need.

Each Component of the Simagic Green Flag Bundle is Genuinely 'Sim Racing Grade'

I won't go into major detail about the items in the bundle as I have reviewed them individually before in more detail; for now, I speak of them as a team. The Simagic Alpha Evo Sport wheelbase is what generates the force feedback; it’s the motor that brings the steering wheel to life and will tell you what your car is doing. It has 9nm of force feedback, which in layman’s terms means it will fight you, but with a very smooth and agile attitude. If you’ve never touched a sim racing wheel, or the only one you have has been a sub-£300 entry-level wheel, this will surprise and excite you from the very first corner; it’s an addictive feeling. It’s perfectly strong enough to entertain full-grown adults, of which I am one, and I find myself with no trouble at all sensing weight transfer, mid-corner grip changes, everything that a solid, consistent drive needs. The customisable halo ring on the base adds a touch of color and life; it can be changed to suit your preferred colouring and communicates track flags. Paired with the GT Neo steering wheel, which is quite lightweight, the feedback quality and strength here is superb for the money. I loved the Evo Sport when reviewing it.

Speaking of the GT Neo steering wheel, it’s a very smart-looking GT and Formula-style rim with lots of customisable onboard lighting, decent paddle shifters, full metal quick release, clutch paddles, and can be used on other brands' wheelbases if you choose to switch teams. It’s a very good value wheel, and it’s perfectly matched in tone with that Alpha Evo Sport wheelbase; they go very well together. The GT Neo’s bright onboard color customization is an important touch if you want to theme your setup. Any of Simagic’s range of steering wheels can be used instead if you get bored and want to add something different, and third-party standalone wheels can be used with the appropriate supporting adapters.

The Simagic P700 Pedals are Excellent for the Money

The pedals are the P700 two-pedal set with throttle and brake, a load cell brake to be exact. A clutch pedal is available to add on for extra cost. I reviewed the P700 pedal set very recently, and I was more than pleased with the performance. It represents very good value for money with good customization that’s ideal for experimenting with your preferred brake pedal feel. It’s very quick and easy to swap between the supplied brake inserts for a wide range of behaviors. It’s a good pedal set in its own right, and I have been very comfortable racing with it. It’s been a pleasure to use.

All three combine to provide an excellent backbone to your potential sim racing setup at great value, and you won’t be unnecessarily held back by any one of them. The wheelbase is plenty strong and swift enough, and the pedals are dependable enough to allow me, a veteran sim racer who may have been trailbraking before some of you were born, to punch in performances that look and feel similar to those I would be capable of on kits that are twice or thrice as expensive. I rate this bundle very highly when it comes to performance achievable per pound spent. If you’re a beginner, then you can rest easy knowing that you’re using a valid, genuine sim racing setup, and if you’re more experienced, then it’s comforting to know that it’s hard for me to think of a better value-for-money setup that I’d be happy to race with.

The bundle also takes the confusion out of Simagic for newcomers. Simagic’s sprawling range of products is, quite frankly, bewildering and disorganized, and I say that as someone with a journalistic interest in sim racing for the last 6 years. Their hardware lineup does sometimes come across as a jumble of odds and ends that takes some understanding to pick through and properly select. But now it’s easy to just say the words "Green Flag Bundle," and you have yourself a neat, clean front door to the world of sim racing under the Simagic banner.

Are there any weaknesses, things you need to know? Shockingly few.

The GT Neo is a good wheel; the grips are very well shaped, but they are not rubber. They are a poly-coated plastic that we know as TPE grips, and TPE is used frequently on lower-priced wheels. I personally detest it wherever it is used; it’s rock hard with somewhat low tack. When paired with the Evo Sport, which is a medium-strength wheelbase, that lack of comfort isn’t a dealbreaker, and gloves would more than solve it. But as far as grip comfort and luxury go, the GT Neo’s worst aspect is in this area. Otherwise, it’s really respectable. The costs need to be kept down somehow, but I do wish it wasn’t in the place you spend the whole time in physical contact with.

It’s worth remembering that when manufacturers offer a strongly priced entry bundle such as this, they are hoping to catch you early, before you get attached to some other brand. It’s not an act of charity; it’s an act of business, and they want your repeat custom when you open your wallet again further down the road. There’s nothing wrong with that; the scramble to be the first brand in your hand is driving down prices for the low to mid-tier like nothing else could. Simagic does have a lot of variety in their inventory, so I have to admit that they’re probably one of the better brands to imprint yourself upon; you’re unlikely to feel boxed in at any point. When weighing up Simagic vs. Fanatec and Moza, I trust Simagic more than Moza from a customer support standpoint. Simagic’s ecosystem is definitely friendlier than Fanatec’s. Out of the three, I have to grant Simagic the honor of being the most approachable and appealing to serious newcomers thanks to this very straightforward and cohesive bundle.

To conclude, you have three capable, harmonious Simagic items plucked from the Goldilocks zone where value for money and performance overlap. There’s no excess or waste, nor does the bundle rely on you not knowing enough about sim racing to spot a lemon. It’s a genuinely good setup that any veteran sim racer could be using. I have no hesitation recommending it to those who are looking to step into the world of sim racing, or those who have outgrown their entry-level setups and are looking for a solid next step. There are cheaper bundles that don’t do as much, and more expensive bundles that do too much. The Green Flag bundle is just right. At the moment, for this money, it’s an exceptional sports-grade kit.
